Local charity BOSP (Brighter Opportunities for Special People) celebrated their ‘Pearl’ Anniversary and the opening of their new Skills for Life Centre in Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea, Basildon on Friday.

The event which took place over four hours was attended by over 60 local Councillors, funders and BOSP families throughout the day, with the Queens Representative for Essex, Deputy Lieutenant Lady Sidra Naeem cutting the ribbon and officially declaring the building open.
BOSP CEO, Jodie Connelly, 49, said “We have grown from a family support group that used to meet around a dining room table, to the professional respite and care provider that we are today. We deliver 12 different services to over 100 disabled children aged from birth to 25 years, and their families. Children with disabilities want to have fun like any other children, whilst Carers and siblings require regular breaks, if they are to continue their caring role. We thank everyone for joining us today and for your wonderful support, we couldn’t have survived the past 30 years and the pandemic without the generosity of our friends in the community”.
